Terms

What you're agreeing to.

These are the terms for the websites Great North Agency builds and hosts. They are written to be read: what you pay, how to leave, and who owns what. Last updated 2 October 2026. How we handle personal information is in the privacy policy.

The short version

  • The build is normally $499, and free while our founding offer is open.
  • Hosting is $49 a month, billed monthly in Canadian dollars from the day you sign up, until you cancel.
  • No contract and no cancellation fee. You can leave at any time.
  • You keep your domain name and your content.

Who we are

Great North Agency (“we”, “us”) is a web design and hosting business in Ontario, Canada. You can reach us at sales@greatnorth.agency, or by post at 27 Concession RD 6 Cheptsow Ontario N0G1K0. “You” is the person or business that signs up. If you sign up for a business, you confirm you are allowed to agree to these terms for it.

What we provide

We build a website for your business and then host it and look after it: your own domain name set up and pointed at it, hosting, backups and a security certificate, and a real person to talk to when something needs changing or fixing. The details of a particular site — its pages, photos and wording — are agreed with you before it goes live.

We use reasonable care and skill, and we aim to keep your site available and backed up. We cannot promise it will never be interrupted: hosting, domain and payment services we rely on can fail, and we are not responsible for outages we do not control.

What you pay

Hosting: $49 a month (Canadian dollars, plus any taxes that apply). It covers the hosting, your domain's setup, backups, the certificate and looking after the site. It is billed through Stripe when you sign up, which is also when the first month is charged, and then every month until you cancel.

The build: normally $499. While our founding offer is open we waive the build fee for the clients it covers, so it is free to build. The offer is limited to the number of clients stated on our site, and it ends when they have signed up. The offer waives the build only: it does not waive hosting.

Extras. Anything beyond the site and its hosting — such as online booking, text messaging or social media management — is quoted to you separately and is only charged once you have agreed to it in writing, including by email.

If we change the hosting price, we will tell you at least 30 days beforehand, and the new price applies from your next billing date after that. If you don't want it, you can cancel before then.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from your client account or by emailing sales@greatnorth.agency. There is no contract and no cancellation fee. Your site stays live until the end of the month you have already paid for, and you are not billed again. We don't refund the part of a month already paid for, unless a law says we must or we agree otherwise.

We may also end or pause the service if you stop paying, if you break these terms, or if keeping your site up would put us or others at risk or break the law. We will tell you first where we reasonably can.

Your domain and your content

You own your domain name and your content — your logo, photographs, text and anything else you give us. If you leave, we'll help you move your domain to another provider and give you your content on request. When the service ends we take your hosted copy of the site down.

You give us permission to store, copy and display your content as needed to build, host and look after your site. You promise you have the right to use what you give us, and that it doesn't infringe anyone else's rights or break the law. We build sites from what you supply and from information your business already makes public, such as its own website and its public business listing. Tell us and we will change or remove anything.

What we create — the design and code of your site — is licensed to you for as long as the site is hosted with us, and for your use of the finished site afterwards. We keep our own tools, templates and general know-how, and may reuse them for other clients.

Sample sites

Before you sign up we may build you a sample site from public information. It is a proposal, not your live site: some of it will be wrong or out of date, and nothing is charged until you have been through it with us and agreed to go ahead. A sample is not published to search engines, and we remove it on request.

Using the service properly

Don't use a site we host for anything unlawful, deceptive, abusive or harmful, to send spam, or to spread malware, and don't try to break or get around the security of our systems or anyone else's. We may remove content or suspend a site that does, and will tell you why where we can.

Problems with a site

If something is wrong with a site we host, use the “Report a problem” link on it, or email sales@greatnorth.agency. We read every report and fix real faults in the sites we host as part of the monthly service.

Third parties

We rely on other services, including Stripe for payments, domain registrars, and email and hosting providers. Their own terms apply to their part of the service, and we are not responsible for their failures. Card details go to Stripe and are never stored by us.

Our responsibility, and its limits

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under law that cannot be limited, or our responsibility for anything that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Beyond that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost business or lost data, and our total liability to you for anything connected to the service is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the problem arose. The service is provided as described above, without other promises about results such as search ranking, sales or enquiries.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters to you, we will tell you before it applies, by email or on your account. Carrying on using the service after that means you accept the change; if you don't, you can cancel as above. The date at the top shows when they were last changed.

Law that applies

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute that cannot be settled by talking it through goes to the courts of Ontario, unless a law gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
